Lambing has finished, the sun has been out (briefly) and the first lambs have been sold. Despite a bad start to lambing with some horribly wet weather flooding our main sheep shed, it ended on a high and the lambs are now making the most of the grass outside. It really is a relief when they are all turned out in a nice, clean field!
Hopefully queues for shops and empty shelves will encourage people to buy local produce from farm shops, milk rounds and egg boxes, and remind them that although the country is in lockdown, work continues on the farm as normal. Not much has changed for us as farmers spend much of the year social distancing (it is an isolated existence sometimes), we have just missed the end of lambing parties!
